Jens n’a plus d’argent sur son téléphone portable. Je vais donc à un petit kiosk au centre commercial Libertad pour le faire recharger. Je donne mon portable, où le numéro de Jens est enregistré, à la dame. Elle me le rend en disant que les chiffres sont trop petits, elle ne les voit pas. Elle veut que je lui dicte. Je le fais et elle l’enregistre mais la machine se déconnecte. Elle attend un peu et recommence mais comme c’est un second essai il faut choisir une autre somme. J’avais demandé d’abord de remettre 50 pesos sur le téléphone de Jens mais maintenant je dois choisir entre 40 ou 60 pesos… Les voies du seigneur sont impénétrables et celles de Claro (la compagnie de téléphone ici) aussi. Puis quelques courses a Libertad. Je ne peux pas résister et achète un livre, Mi país inventado d’Isabel Allende (Mon pays inventé).

Je vais ensuite à une bodega, c'est-à-dire l’endroit où on fait du vin. On peut la visiter mais seulement dans l’après-midi.

Le grand sujet dont parlent les journaux en ce moment, c’est la ré-ré-réélection du gouverneur de la province de San Juan, José Luis Gioja. Normalement un gouverneur ne peut se présenter que deux fois de suite. Mais lui, qui a déjà fait deux mandats, voudrait bien se représenter. Il faut pour cela modifier la constitution. Les députés doivent d’abord se prononcer et, si une majorité de députés est pour, ce sera soumis à un référendum. Donc, la campagne a commencé. Apparemment ça va passer. Il est assez populaire. C’est sous son « règne » que le Centro Cívico a été fini, des écoles construites, le stade inauguré. Son pire opposant est son frère qui l’accuse d’être sur la voie de devenir un dictateur! Un de ses soutiens est le patron de la CGT, qui, entre parenthèse, est soumis à une enquête de la part d’un juge suisse pour une histoire de fonds en Suisse.

Jens has no money left on his cell phone. I go to a small kiosk at the mall Libertad to reload it. I give my phone where Jens’ number is recorded to the lady. She waits a bit and tries again but as it is a second essay I must choose another amount of money. I first asked 50 pesos but now I have to choose between 40 or 60 pesos ... The ways of the Lord are inscrutable and those of Claro (the phone company here) too. Then I go shopping in the supermarket Libertad. I cannot resist buying a book, Mi país inventado by Isabel Allende (My country invented).
Then I'm going to a winery, that is to say where they make wine. But it can be visited only in the afternoon.

The big topic in the newspapers right now is the re-re-re-election of the governor of the province of San Juan, José Luis Gioja. Normally a governor can only be elected twice in a row. He has already served two terms, but would like a third one. This requires changing the constitution. Members of the local parliamnt must first decide and if a majority of MPs is for, it will be submitted to a referendum. So the campaign has begun. Apparently it will pass. He is quite popular. It was under his "reign" that the Centro Cívico was finished, schools built, the stadium opened. His worst opponent is his brother who accused him of being on the road to becoming a dictator! One of his supporters is the boss of the CGT (the big syndicate), who, by the way, is under investigation by a Swiss judge for a story of bank account in Switzerland.
